I STILL grieve for my mother

Posted on November 3, 2012 at 4:50 PM Comments comments (0)

I still grieve for my mother . . .

~ ~ ~

I grieve for the heartaches she went thru

I grieve for the sufferings she endured

I grieve for the senselessness of-it-all

I grieve for the mind she was losing

I grieve for the love we lost from her

I grieve for all the love not shown her

I grieve because she really wasn't always there

I grieve for the pain of heart she had in her

I grieve because she may not live again

I grieve for I can still see those hurting eyes

I grieve, and prayerfully hope that she will arise

I still grieve for the loss of my sweet mother

I grieve and the deeper and deeper it goes

I grieve off the onion skins of all memories

I grieve because it's a long-ago habit to know

I grieve to remember our dear mother

I'll grieve til I see her with the angels of heaven

I'll grieve til grief doesn't exist anywhere

I will grieve for my sins and of my mother's

I will grieve for those of other's who cared

I still grieve for my sister and brothers

I grieve for the troubles my "father"suffered

I grieve because of the love I saw right there

I still grieve because my Mother is not here

I grieve with the groans of Creation

I grieve for Earth's final dissipations

I grieve for the sorrow ALL share

I still grieve for the loss of my dear mother

I grieve because I always have cared

I grieve because it's my sensitive nature

I'll grieve until my own soul becomes unaware

I'll grieve, for the love of my mother . . .

is something she put there.

Jesus, the christ, conquored sin and death and the grave! The Victory of His is Ours! But the Suffering and Shame that was His is Still for Us to Live. The pathway to Heaven isn't cheap. It was paid for by the blood of the Lamb. That's why God is LOVE. That WAS LOVE! That is why there is Faith, Hope, and LOVE. That is why there is GRACE!

The True Social Conscience of the End is All about GOD and His TRUTH, not Formal "religion"

The True Social Conscience of the End is All about

GOD and His TRUTH, not about the Majority and

Formal "religions" of the World

(How Many Today Are Living Lying Lives of Sleepy Complacency?)

~ ~ ~

How may today are living lies of complacency, making IDOLS out of their JOBS (while unemployment is rampant), or of CARS, HOBBIES, CHILDREN, PARENTS, FAMILY, COLLEGE, WORK FRIENDS, AND IDEAL, THERE DOGMA, etc. Whatever the Idol, SELF is at the center, and the social conscience that views the world at best, nominally accepting what the government medias say, or worse --- is DEAD because the life is corralled in an ignorance of/or denial of the fact that this world is being shaken and all that in is in it.

Marshall law and a bold POLICE STATE is just on the horizon as the NWO is arriving with Obama, the dictator/tyrannt president of the Fallen USA (U.S.S.A), now the globalist leader in Anarchy and Socialism unto Facism. Rome is behind it all, but few want to believe that she has a plan to rule the world again. On the near horizon is a return to the medivial ages. Facism ruled then, it will rule again.

Rationing is coming. A government controlling everyone who wil be; and for those who won't be controlled, RESISTENCE will be the only recourse. And there will be two types of resistence coming from those who haev a social conscience that is enlightened by God.

1) There will be violent, physical resistence. RIOTS such has we have seen in Asia and Europe; Greece and Spain, Lybia, and others, will begin to break out in Amerika. So there will be those who will use both within the population, and by the government.

2) There will be passive resistence, in particular, by Christians who are Christians in truth and indeed. These will find their strength in the knowledge of God, security and strength in his presense, and will resist unto blood (even death) striving against sin personified in the evil men who will be set in place as society crumbles. "As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people." Proverbs 28:15 "If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked." Proverbs 29:12 "For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them." Ecclesiastes 9:12

~ ~ ~

What I would like to know is if anyone reading this has a spiritual social conscience born of the true God and His Word? Do you consider how this world is falling rapidly apart, or are you out of touch with real news and reality? Do you have any knowledge that the Bible prophecies of the end are at hand? Do you know what they really are, or do are you holding to false theories of what is to happen, such as the rapture, or the Catholic and Apostate Protestant (false prophet) versions of the coming of a new age, of spiritual and economic prosperity, or the "rapture," that the to take the "mark of the beast" is what you should do when it is enforced upon the whole world? Do you realize that the internet is the last Bastion of 1st amendment rights and freedom of speech? Do you know that the GOVERNMENT runs all the medias? (And only permits so much of the truth out even on the internet?)

What would you think if I told you that the 7 last plagues have been on the earth for 7 years already and that we are in the final hours of this planet's history before it is destroyed by NUCLEAR (and other) fire? "For by fire and by his sword (his WORD) will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.Isaiah 66:16 "Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.Nahum 1:6 "Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land (earth) shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land (earth)." Zephaniah 1:18. "Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy." Zephaniah 3:8 Will you now place me on a "terrorist" list because I am telling you the truth of what God's Word says? Would you call an DHS or CIA or FBI agent? Would you contact the White House? Would you call the Police? What are you going to do with all those fears you suppress and those truths you purposely deny? How many in this world are in total ignorance or are choosing to DENY what I am repeating in God's Word? Thousands, millions, are living that way --- lives of status quoism and normalcy biases, where DENIAL of the evil spreading it's net upon the earth is a way of life and that GOD is some FORM of passive forgetfulness of him and a planet falling apart; where everyday ignorance of world events in economics, in the earth's geography, ecosphere, the social spheres, in the political arena, in religious circles, and all other professions of life, are lost upon the mind, and a blind stupor controls the thoughts through TV, the Internet, other electronic devices; and a mere fleshly existence of living for "the lust of the flesh" dominates; where all the thoughts are only continually evil and GOD and his great holiness and purity and granduer are completely lost upon the mind and heart; and men have forgotten their Creator and "the evil days" have come. (Ecclesiasties 12:1)

You who are of the MINORITY on the planet that "have ears to listen" have only one recourse, CONSTANT CONTINUAL PRAYER WITHOUT CEASING; did into God's Word as you have never have, for the Scriptures will be the only Source of solace you will find as we head towards "the great day of the LORD" Zephaniah 1:14 PRAY, Pray, pray God's Word back to him in obedience!

"Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger." Zephaniah 2:3 (Key word = hid) "They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones." (Psalms 83:3) Who ARE these "hidden ones"? They are "the remnant of Israel" (Zephaniah 3:12,13) They have "power with God and with men and prevail (conquer). (Genesis 32:2) They received so much POWER with God that their names (characters) have been transformed (changed). (Genesis 35:10) [Jacob became Israel] Their God is the "GOD of Israel" (Mt 15:31) This is not speaking of the "God of Israel"..."after the flesh" (1 Co 10:18) but the "God of Israel" "after the spirit." (Ro 8:1) (As we shall soon see.)

These have no earthly denomination , for they are entirely spiritually conformed to the Word of God, and know "The Lord our God is ONE LORD." (Mk 12:29). They have no earthy KING or Prime Minister, but kow "the son of GOD" ---- Jesus, the christ, is "the King of Israel." (John 1:49)

[Acts 2:22-40:  "Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.  Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation." Notice that the "Men of Israel" are here addressed in the days of Christ. Who were they? The Jewish Nation of then. Today, the "Israel of God" is not in anyway the Nation of the Jews over in the Middle East!

Are you one of the "many as the Lord our God SHALL CALL?" Are you among this people "called out" "of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues?" (Rev 7:9) "And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God. Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved." Romans 9:26,27 If you are one of the "called out" ones mentioned here Today , then "Save yourselves from this untoward (crooked, last) Generation!"

"Men of Israel," and ye (nations, ye gentiles) that FEAR (love and respect) GOD, Give Audience!

"Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: ...They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed." (Romans 9:6-8) What or who is the "seed"? Jesus, the christ, is "the seed!" (Gal 3:16) But from him comes at the end of time another, "remnant" seed.  "Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant (seed) shall be saved: For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth." (Romans 9:27-8) (See Isaiah 1:9 also, where "remnant" = "seed.")

Are YOU of this "remnant" seed? THEY "at this present time" are the "remnant according to the election of grace." (Romans 11:5)

What happened to "Israel after the flesh?" "They stumbled at that stumblingstone (the christ)...and became a NATION of "disobedient and gainsaying people." Romans 9:36/10:21

Today most believe Israel, the NATION over in the middle east, are "the ISRAEL of GOD." But this is not true, for "the Israel of God" at the end of time are not a geographically denominated people, but a purely spiritual people "cut out" from all over the world to form God's "invisible church"; (Including faithful converted to Christ Jews!), for as Christ himself said "the kingdom of God cometh not with OUTWARD show (observance)...but is "within you," that is, within the hearts of all those who LOVE GOD and have "the righteousness which is of the law (of God)" and by God's indwelling grace "doeth those things (living) by them...for the law is not of faith: but the man that doeth them (DO THE COMMANDMENTS) shall live IN THEM,...for the JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 10:5 with Galatians 3:12,11)

The Election of Grace (Romans 11:5,7,28) is what determines WHO are "the Israel of God" --- not fleshly formal heritage in the world, nor by a supposed virtue of a denominated land, or because one is by genetic heritage a Jew! The RULE OF CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED is the spiritual walk of a "new creature (or creation) Christ: as it is written, "as many as walk according to this RULE (axiom, principle, law of God), peace be on them, and mercy UPON THE ISRAEL OF GOD." Galatians 6:16-14.

Samson's VOW

Seven green withs around me were bound.

All the ropes were around me found.

They were the seven locks of my sleeping head's hair.

But I awoke to tear away both beam and the heavy snare.

Aye! There hath not come a razor upon my head!

Thus, my strength was with me because of my hair!

If once I'm shaved my strength would be made bare.

Alas, I showed all my heart's secret ways.

And my seven locks were indeed shaved all away.

From that one sore moment, my God I found not!

They bound me in fetters of brass---and my eyes were put out!

But my hair began to grow in mine enemy's prison house.

They brought me to the house of Dagon to mock.

Between the pillars they set me and I "made them sport"1

On the roof three thousand Phillistines laughed and gazed.

(But they didn't know that soon they'd all be amazed!)

I called unto the Lord, and said, "O Lord my God,

Remember me! O' I pray Thee, only this once, O God!"

And I took hold of two pillars in the house were I was found,

And avenged me of mine enemies all around!

Reader, remember Samson and the source of his Great Strength.

Never Fail thy vows to thy God who is all THY Strength.

1 Sport = Hebrew. to laugh (in pleasure or detraction); by implication, to play:---deride, have in derision, laugh, make merry, mock(er), play, rejoice, (laugh to scorn, be in (make) sport.

Gramps VISION and what it teaches

Posted on October 20, 2012 at 5:35 PM Comments comments (0)

When the thoughts of the memories of my mother awaken in me, the first thing that my conscience brings to mind, is that mom is "dead," that is, absolutely without a living, active conscience or mind.

In a nutshell, the Bible fact is stated very plainly when it says that the dead are "ASLEEP" in the GRAVE in SILENCE and KNOW NOT ANY THING because they have CEASED TO EXIST as a SOUL (person). So, though we may remember our departed loved ones, they can't and don't have any THOUGHTS, they have perished with their bodies and their SOUL, which means the body, the spirit or breath of life, and the character or personality ---the PERSON, is a thought only in God's OMNISCENT mind which he WILL RESURRECT ONE DAY.

"For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun." Ecclesiastes 9:5-6

There are many verses that teach this picture when you put them all together. (See "sleeping" in Psalm 13:3, "silent" and "silence" in Psalms 115:16, 2:8, 28:1, 31:17, "Resurrection" in Mt 22:30, John 5:29, Chapter 11, 1 Corinthians 15, and Romans 6:9.)

This is very important because the knowledge of the state of the dead in the scriptures is a divine safeguard against SPIRITUALISM (satanic delusions). This evil is overtaking the world very rapidly at the end of time right now, in particular with the UFO phenomenon, and "channeling" (even in Christian circles. For example, the messages of "Mary.")

In whatever form of doctrine, or in whatever manner it manifests itself, SPIRITUALISM always teaches and gives the impression that the dead are ALIVE and can "speak" to us, or even appear to us as personifications of a dead loved one.

Spirit mediums and "familiar spirits" are condemned in the Bible as demonic: see Deuteronomy 18:11, 2 Kings 21:6, and 1 Samuel 28: 11-14, where a demon personates the Prophet Samuel and deceives and brings Saul to ruin through it's deceit and deception. SAMUEL WAS DEAD, and the "witch" conjured up a spirit: that is SPIRITUALISM.) It is purely Demonic.

When armed with the Bible teaching, so clear throughout all the scriptures touching on the subject, when one is confronted with it, one has an arsenal of TRUTHS to withstand all it's lies and lying demon. Before I get to "GRAMPS VISION and what it teaches" I want to give a prewarning.

NEVER consider your senses if an IMAGE (ghost), a spirit being (UFO alien, etc), a voice, comes to you pretending that they are "mom," or "Grandma," or "Grandpa," or "Gramps," or ANYONE you know has died. DO NOT TRUST YOUR SENSES, or YOUR FEELINGS, if this should happen to you because they appeal to those. It can be overpowering and you will be deceived and lead down a dangerous, delusional pathway of lies no matter what anyone around you says. (And today, many believe these appearances).

Gramps VISION and what it Teaches or Reveals

Once, when Gramps was going through the difficulties of his last day struggles, I visited him in Iowa. (He was just beginning to face Alzheimers and the beginnings of Dementia.) I will never forget that day. He had just gotten up out of bed and was greatly disturbed about something. When I asked what was wrong, he related to me and Gram that when he was in bed that night, he was awakened by a startling presence at the foot of his bed. He said it was his Mother. He then went on to explain in detail what she looked like and what she said to him. She apparently berated him for his follies in life, told him he was no good, and threatened him somehow with her menacing looks and pointing finger. She told him to do such and such or he would be in big trouble.

Now, Gramps was very shaken by this SUPERNATURAL EVENT. That was obvious, for it was not characteristic of him to open up in this way about something as bizarre as this was. Now remember, yes he was becoming mentally ill, but he still was processing things and able to reason and be rational.

Instantly, because I knew the Bible truth babout "the state of the dead," I was able to counsel Gramps (and Gram too, for she was attentive, because this whole thing was really very real according to Gramps.) At first, he did not want to see what I was saying, but then it clicked in his mind. He at once began to dismiss the VISION he had that night as non-sense. All I did was quote a few Bible verses which explain that "the DEAD KNOW NOT ANYTHING," for "ALL they that go down to the dust shall bow before GOD (one day): and none can keep alive his own soul." Psalm 22:29. Here's another one:

"For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth." Isaiah 38:18 "Let me not be ashamed ... let them be silent in the grave." Psalm 31:17

GRAMPA'S MOTHER was not "alive" and appearing to him with a "message from God," heaven, or Hell! His mother was DEAD, in the grave, dust, silent, and awaiting the resurrection (in the mind of God who has all the memory of her and who she was and what she deserves according to what her life was life as God will judge. This image of personification of his Mother was a DEMON masquerading as Gramps Mom. It was not the spirit of her actual person, because the Bible clearly teaches that when a person dies, he gives up the Ghost, the Spirit of life (the breath) goes back to God, and the body goes back to "dust," and the whole memory of the person "is perished" until teh Lord commands the "resurrection." Read Ezekiel 37, about the "valley of the dry bones." Read it with 1 Corinthians 15, and 1 Thessalonians 4, and other old testament passages. Especially Read John 11, where Jesus explains death as a sleep and raises the sleeping (DEAD) Lazarus.

Have you Thought about Your Soul

by David Buttram

"Have you ever stopped to wonder

What this life is all about?

Why you're here and where you're going

When your lease on time runs out?

Maybe you've been too busy

Trying hard to reach your goal.

Would you let me ask you kindly

Have you thought about your soul?

If you've never thought it over,

Spend a little time today;

There is nothing more important

That will ever come your way,

Than the joy of sins forgiven,

And to know you've been made whole

In the Name of Christ the Savior.

Have you thought about your soul?"

Quoted from the Gospel Tract Harvester Newsletter, February 2002, page 16.

The Sin of Omission

by Margaret E. Sangster

It isn't the thing you do, dear,

Its the thing you leave undone

That gives you a bit of a heartache

At setting of the sun.

The tender work forgotten,

The letter you did not write,

The flowers you did not send, dear,

Are your haunting ghosts at night.

The stone you might have lifted

Out of a brother's way;

The bit of heartsome counsel

You were hurried too much to say;

The loving touch of the hand, dear,

The gentle, winning tone

Which you had no time nor thought for

With troubles enough of your own.

Those little acts of kindness

So easily out of mind,

Those chances to be angels

Which we poor mortals find

They come in night and silence,

Each sad, reproachful wraith,

When hope is faint and flagging,

And a chill has fallen on faith.

For life is all too short, dear,

And sorrow is all to great,

To suffer our slow compassion

That tarries until too late:

And it isn't the thing you do, dear,

It's the thing you leave undone

Which gives you a bit of heartache

At the setting of the sun.

Hymn of the Waldenses

Hear, Father, hear thy faint afflicted flock

Cry to thee, from the desert and the rock;

While those, who seek to slay thy children, hold

Blasphemous worship under roofs of gold;

And the broad goodly lands, with pleasant airs

That nurse the grape and wave the grain, are theirs.

Yet better were this mountain wilderness,

And this wild life of danger and distress--

Watchings by night and perilous flight by day,

And meetings in the depths of earth to pray,

Better, far better, than to kneel with them,

And pay the impious rite thy laws condemn.

Thou, Lord, dost hold the thunder; the firm land

Tosses in billows when it feels thy hand;

Thou dashest nation against nation, then

Stillest the angry world to peace again.

Oh, touch their stony hearts who hunt thy sons--

The murderers of our wives and little ones.

Yet, mighty God, yet shall thy frown look forth

Unveiled, and terribly shall shake the earth.

Then the foul power of priestly sin and all

Its long-upheld idolatries shall fall.

Thou shalt raise up the trampled and oppressed,

And thy delivered saints shall dwell in rest.

Deem not the just by heaven forgot,

Though life its common gifts deny ---

Though, with a crushed and bleeding heart,

And spurned of man, he goes to die:

For God hath marked each sorrowing day,

And numbered every bitter tear;

And heaven's long years of bliss shall pay

For all His children suffer here.

From Uncle Tom's Cabin, page 484, by Harriet Beecher Stowe, T. Nelson & Sons 1852 Edition

I just read the classic "Uncle Tom's Cabin". It's a MASTER PIECE of "factual fiction." I aim to put many gems from that book right here on this page for the edification of whomever, including me.

I received an old yellowed 1852 edtion from a good friend of mine who was going through her old books and wondered what to do with it. Bless her soul! She thought of me!, a "living" Martyr [and prophet, for all of God's sealed one's are "prophets"]----so says the inward spiritual discernment pointing to the darkened days before us, and so says my present spiritual physical and mental and emotional pains!

The Lord redeems through many an avenue of sufferings. Was it "fair" what the slaves went through? If you haven't read this book, DON'T. It will utterly discomfort your moral ease rouse the highest sense of indignation! Fair or unfair, how can we qualify any suffering? We should not be surprised by GOD's means, unless his end of mercy come.

Consider Job. Consider David. Consider Paul. Oh, yes! Consider our blessed Lord Jesus himself, the Prince of "Suffering"---the One who will see to it so very very soon "affliction [sin, suffering, death, disease, etc] shall not rise up the second time."! Nahum 1:9

The true Christian has much to learn from the history of negro slavery and the noble souls of many a white or negro man or woman who fought the dreadful EVIL til the day of the blessed "emancipation." So sad that the NATURE OF SIN in mankind makes it so that til the close of time there will be many Martyrs {living or not}; for the Book of Revelation, reveals that as the 7 last plagues fall "the merchants of the earth" are mourning over the lack of the sale of "Babylon" [USA and the world's] "merchandise" of  "wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men." Revelation 18:13.

A bit of interesting info. Hymns that Uncle Tom sang in the book of fact/fiction by H.B. Stowe...

Evidentially, many traditional hymns have "root lyrics" from which the song writers of today call the "original hymn."  John Newton's "Amazing Grace" [1779 or 1808] appears in a raw form in the lyrics of a HYMN found in the 1852 Edition of Uncle Tom's Cabin.  Evidentially the last verse here was not in the original Newton version.

"The earth shall be dissolved like snow,

The sun shall cease to shine;

But God, who called me here below,

Shall be for ever mine.

And when this mortal life shall fail,

And flesh and sense shall cease,

I shall possess within the veil

A life of joy and Peace.

When we've been there ten thousand years,

Bright shining like the sun,

We've no less days to sing God's praise

Than when we first begun.

The Newton Orignial ---

"Amazing grace! (how sweet the sound)

That sav’d a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found,

Was blind, but now I see.’

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

And grace my fears reliev’d;

How precious did that grace appear,

The hour I first believ’d!

Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares,

I have already come;

’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,

And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis’d good to me,

His word my hope secures;

He will my shield and portion be,

As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,

And mortal life shall cease;

I shall possess, within the veil,

A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,

The sun forbear to shine;

But God, who call’d me here below,

Will be forever mine.

"The origin of the melody is unknown. Most hymnals attribute it to an early American folk melody. The Bill Moyers special on “Amazing Grace” speculated that it may have originated as the tune of a song the slaves sang. Newton was not only a prolific hymn writer but also kept extensive journals and wrote many letters. Historians accredit his journals and letters for much of what is known today about the eighteenth century slave trade."

Another HYMN sung by UNCLE TOM was this hymn by Isaac Watts

[The last stanza wasn't in the Book]

When I can read my title clear

To mansions in the skies,

I bid farewell to every fear,

And wipe my weeping eyes.

Should earth against my soul engage,

And hellish darts be hurled,

Then I can smile at Satan’s rage,

And face a frowning world.

Let cares, like a wild deluge come,

And storms of sorrow fall!

May I but safely reach my home,

My God, my heav’n, my All.

There shall I bathe my weary soul

In seas of heav’nly rest,

And not a wave of trouble roll

Across my peaceful breast.

Also from the book UNCLE TOM, page 459

Colonization Society By John G. C. Brainard (1796–1828) [Only the underlined was in Uncle Tom's]

ALL sights are fair to the recover’d blind—

All sounds are music to the deaf restored—

The lame, made whole, leaps like the sporting hind;

And the sad bow’d down sinner, with his load

Of shame and sorrow, when he cuts the cord,

And drops the pack it bound, is free again

In the light yoke and burden of his Lord.

Thus, with the birthright of his fellow man,

Sees, hears and feels at once the righted African.

’T is somewhat like the burst from death to life;

From the grave’s cerements to the robes of Heaven;

From sin’s dominion, and from passion’s strife,

To the pure freedom of a soul forgiven!

When all the bonds of death and hell are riven,

And mortals put on immortality;

When fear, and care, and grief away are driven,

And Mercy’s hand has turn’d the golden key,

And Mercy’s voice has said, “Rejoice—thy soul is free!

Ponder, Mourn, the Haitian Earthquake

                              Haiti’s crying wind blew in yesterday,

                              and un-nerved the souls of America;

                              and blew right thru my own heart-way.

                              Across the blasted rusty mill creek it fell —

                              A tree: already dead, the wind ‘snapped,’

                              and lay it’s splintered torso FLAT.

                              All day each leaden hued face I met,

                              was stunned in look and tones of grief.

                              What else can be said in so sad regret?

                              O pray for the living Haitian’s relief.

                              Tens of thousands of souls are dead,

                              and tens of thousands more  ‘sigh’

                              and ask— “O GOD! Are you dead?!”

                              (How sad to thus mournfully cry!)

                              A tree, if green, stands head erect.

                              It drives it’s limbs heaven-ward,

                              as if light from above calls to direct.

                              A man is a tree, and green—if he elects,

                              but his choices own him and are free.

                              Overall, heaven wills (or not) to intersect.

                             Given to all is the willful choice that’s free.

                              There a man finds his rightful person,

                              and finds equal the STAND of other trees,

                              where most agree God’s “no respecter of person.”

                              So, heaven must judge the ‘created,’

                              and we all (for yea or nay) will agree

                              until ‘sin’ be no more respected,

                              and GOD be seen AS GOD,

                              when all eyes HIM will see.

                              For now one must ponder the dilemma.

                              Was Haite already the deadened tree?

                              So, when her splintered torso lay flat,

                              By the crying wind of yesterday’s deed

                              she answered to her mournful lying rap—

                              “O GOD! You are really dead!”

                              (They awayed His grace, tis the cold-hard fact.)

                              Ponder the thought I’ve now just penned.

                              How many trees snapped before God

                              in that yesterday’s cause of wind

                              — and were they already ‘snapped’—

                              splintered torsos because already dead?!

                              And how many Christians today stand like that—

                              Dead trees, already dead, ready to snap,

                              when the crying wind comes to blow?

                              Who can really really know?

                              The thought is in my own lap.

                              A thought, an idea, can be a tree, but it too

                              Can be already dead, and ‘snapped,’

                              Laying ‘it’s splintered torso flat,’

                              Hence a meaningful image of two

                             (or more, if you’ll think about that.)

The Otherside of Tomorrow

The Otherside of Tomorrow

          What is on the other-side of tomorrow’s edgeless frames

          When recon’d in heart or mind, even unto a soulful disdain,

          As life in its glory grinds down with joyless pain,

          Only those gripped in silent depression must need refrain.

          For on the other-side of tomorrow’s hidden-away views

          We watch the hopes of precious things hearkening to renew

          As death and its disturb-less sleep rises high above the main

          Only these looking faith-wise are poised, divinely sustained.

          But if what is on the other-side of the morrow’s transcend

          We loose all we see or not to mortally defend

          As “dust we are and dust we shall return” (to end)

          And only these “at peace with God” can soulfully remand.

          So patient-await this long other-side of tomorrow’s row

          We cannot ‘one man alone’ his soul save from the foe —

          And it is the mind of a suffering one alone know tis so

          For God himself can alone decide the end of any soul.

          What’s on the other-side of tomorrow’s near-future day

          As we roll the burdens up and down life’s roughened freeway

          Cannot at all end the soul’s repose from God’s eternal rays

          Which gladden the hearts and minds of these he wills away!

          But if on the other-side of the morrow’s edgeless frames

          We beacon all lights and hear the soundful, joyful arrays,

          And find all darkness, clouds, and greys have passed away,

          Then Rejoice! Sing and Praise God the more!

                                        For comes the Eternal Day!
